ORLANDO, FL. (September 13, 2021) – BaseballCloud, the baseball industry’s leading software suite that allows coaches and players to make use of their performance metrics, today announced its acquisition of Yakkertech, a rapidly growing optical tracking solution that has taken the collegiate data-capturing game by storm in 2021. This deal will allow the two parties to expand their reach of this high-end technology to all levels of baseball and softball, along with creating an end-to-end solution, which will enhance the overall experience for players, coaches, parents, and fans alike.
“Over the last four years we ended up spending so much of our time on managing data quality issues. The industry is educated now. I feel it is our responsibility to provide the market with what it deserves and what it expects. This transaction allows us to do so. Optical tracking is the key to driving down costs, enhancing data quality, and increasing data capturing opportunities for all. I am excited for the world to see the power of Yakkertech and what the future holds,” says Kevin Davidson, CEO of BaseballCloud.
BaseballCloud currently serves as the analytics hub for over 100 collegiate programs and provides a variety of custom software solutions as needed to MLB organizations, independent leagues, agencies, and individual players. Given Yakkertech’s recent growth and advancements, coupled with their heavy presence within MLB organizations, a merger between the two companies was inevitable.
“Yakkertech is committed to ensuring that our optical tracking technology provides players with the highest quality data at the most competitive price point. Optical tracking is the only viable solution moving forward in the game of baseball and softball, and Yakkertech is here to provide the industry what it needs. Now as part of BaseballCloud, our group can maintain that focus and bring the most user-friendly set of analytics to help coaches coach and players get better,” said Yakkertech President Sean Cashman.
BaseballCloud and Yakkertech are excited to push the envelope in player development. Users of the two solutions have many product improvements to look forward to, such as objective fingerprint tracking for pitcher grips, as seen in BaseballCloud’s BallR. The partnership between the two companies will also allow for the integration of a live data feed, which will give coaches and players the opportunity to make adjustments in real time. Additionally, Yakkertech will become the only in-game solution downstream that captures data and analysis-grade video of the pitcher and hitter simultaneously.
With plans to aggressively enter the in-game capturing space in college softball, coupled with a deal to partner with emerging amateur softball giant The Alliance, this partnership will impact more than just the game of baseball.
Scott Smith, head coach of the Bombers Fastpitch and board member of The Alliance, commented, “This is game changing! BaseballCloud and SoftballCloud are becoming the industry standard when it comes to providing a single source data analytics product to help coaches and players at every level. Now to bring Yakkertech, one of the absolute best data capture products, to this process is going to absolutely change the sport of fastpitch softball.”
The Yakkertech acquisition is the first for BaseballCloud and one of twelve for sports tech conglomerate DS Sports Ventures. For more information on the deal and updates on products, visit www.baseballcloud.com.
